FoamEx on the big CNC?

Close, but different things. Good to get that mix up cleared up.

Double sided tape or the old masking tape on the foamex and on the base glued together with super glue trick might be a good option to hold the foamex down.

Yes - only I don’t think it needs superglue. I expect for this application a glue stick would give ample adhesive strength and would be much cheaper and easier, and if it gets on fingers etc., it’s easy to clean off.

ETA, if glue from glue stick doesn’t fully dry, that would be a problem- it would get on the bit or drag knife blade. If so, I’d fall back to Paraloid b72 - dries quickly, cleans off with acetone, holds very firmly, better than superglue in most cases.

I will point out that whilst it will.likely work for bigger pieces, gluing for foamex will likely be unwise since the acetone will do more harm than good to the material potentially! Tape might be the solution here, but I won’t pretend to know anything about CNCIng really so don’t hold my opinion in any real regard…

Yea - that is the trick here - you put tape on both sides and the glue glues the tape, not the piece! then you just take the tape off…

The glue never touches the workpiece…
