I’ll come down to the space this week - probably wednesday - and do an appraisal of our current piles and what’s needed to build this wall. In general, I’m planning on independent inner and outer frames of 50x75 studs, with staggered verticals, for best sound isolation. We’ll only build one layer for now.

Do we have any timber left that fits this spec or should I assume all new?

Also, how much of the birch ply is there left?

For doors, someone needs to drive to the reclaim yard here:

And see what they’ve got. Unfortunately, their phone number was in my old phone which is very dead. We only really need 1 solid for the block wall, and a pair with vision panels for the short wall. The dimensions of those doors will inform everything else.

Also we need more stainless steel screws, there were no where near enough left, and we need to find the white caps.

Also no timber really that is suitable.

I am not sure if 2nd hand doors is a good idea after the problems with the front doors.

Could you measure the size of the opening in the new wall, and a size range for the new double doors, a bit smaller than the front doors?

There’s a possibility I might be able to get to the door place tomorrow.

One issue with the front doors are that they’re interior doors. We probably need to seal them a bit better.

sigh my work life has become a bit complicated again. As a result I can’t host make the space for the next couple Sundays. It would be really important for someone else to take charge of fore manning these two weeks.

To slightly make up for it, I’m happy to lead a team from early evening into the wee hours of Saturday night if there are volunteers?

Just a reminder: we have the IoT workshop running from 10 to 5 on Saturday, so space makers will need to be sensitive to that. However, from my memory of putting up lining that probably just means slightly quieter cursing…

well done on the doors Dermot…not getting them would have potentially slowed the great momentum we have going.
We should be able to start the first stud wall very soon, if i’m right we have an agreed drawing from TomN for this

Not sure it’s agreed quite yet. I’ll be in the space this evening to appraise the situation, and should have a revised drawing done by the weekend.

I am not sure how we are going to manage the IoT thing with all the PVC sheets in the way, there isn’t anywhere sensible for them out back.

They’re not too bad to move. Can always put them outside if needed, or hard against the sofas so we can fit round the table

I have replaced the bulbs in the blue silverline twin floodlight. I put in 400 watt bulbs. The original 500watt bulbs didn’t last long.
