ABS filament in Ultimaker 2+

@3dtechs I came in to get some stuff printed and noticed the machine was misbehaving - the filament was peeling itself off of the plate early on.

Brian was around and noticed that the filament (neon orange) connected to the printer was actually ABS. From the tools page, it doesn’t look like ABS is allowed for use with this machine?

We removed the filament and inserted a (white) PLA one and I restarted my print. I’m not sure the printer is working properly as the filament is still peeling itself off (maybe it’s because of my design though?) and it occassionally spits out orange bits from the previous filament.

If ABS is not allowed with this printer, should we a) make a note next to the printer or b) require everyone to check what filament has been inserted before printing?

Oh, my. Someone brought the orange filament and I loaded it on the Ultimaker without realising it’s ABS. You’re right, ABS isn’t allowed on that cause it stinks on long prints. Please leave the filament aside with a note on it. I’ll see if I can make a laminated sheet with materials allowed for which printer. With the new printers coming online, it’s gotten more complicated.

Done. I like the laminated sheet idea!

The printer is working fine now - I think the extruder was contaminated with ABS and behaving funny but now it’s spat it all out.
