Advice on using a step down converter

I recently picked up a Kitchen Aid mixer for pretty cheap but hadn’t taken into account that it was a US model and wasn’t dual voltage.

It takes 120v 275 watts max so I’m thinking I can pick up an 600+ watt step down converter to make it usable in the UK, rather than spend as much in spare parts and take apart the whole piece - aside from getting it wet is there anything I need to be aware of that might make this a non-option?

We had exactly the same situation and we use a Tacima model SC 5476/2 transformer which appear much more expensive now than when we bought one 10 years ago - anyway it works fine for us

I don’t have an answer for you, but I would like to ask a similar question - what would it take to permanently convert it to uk electrical standard - as in actually swapping out internals. I don’t know much about electronics, and would like to understand if this is relatively simple or not.

Fantastic, great to hear first hand it’s possible!

Thank you.

That was my first thought and you’re likely to spend as much in buying replacement parts than you would just getting another model.

EBay and Facebook marketplace are full of them for virtually no money.

Amazing, sounds like a plan, I’ll report back if it goes terribly wrong

Thanks all!
