Any circuit wizz's in today or can give advice?

Been trying to follow this guide to repair my headphones, something is short circuiting the board but I can’t tell what when I open it up, i hope to fit it by adding lots of tape to isolate whichever wire is causing the short circuit (classic).

When I open it up, I can get it to turn on, and I moved some suspect looking cross over wires about a bit but the fix was only temporary. I tried opening it up, addding some tape but still no avail. If anyone has any advice would be really helpful! I’ll be in the space today/will try to make it to electronics thursday

I’m shocked by that build quality in a sony product???

The are usually very good.

the short might had killed something…

Nothing is killed, if you disassemble it and power on it works, but then after reassembly it shorts

They sometimes have superfine wire cores in cables which are very hard to see. I guess that’s why trying tape - to identify where a stray fine filament might be causing a short. I had that struggle when swapping out to a new lead on my Sony MDR7506/1 headphones. Maybe try the microscope in the electronics area (?) - a magnified visual examination might identify the problem.

If you come around Thursday we can have a look at it
