Best glue for leather to acrylic

As the title suggests I am looking to stick leather to acrylic to make a sharpening strop.

So one side will have the suede side face up and the other smooth side up.

Thinking of laser etching the acrylic first to provide a key and then using a contact adhesive such as eco stick impact.

Would this hold? Or can anyone suggest something better?

Thanks in advance!!

Hey Mark.

Yes, contact cement is going to be best for no-sew extra-strong long-lasting hold. I always use industrial-grade shoe contact cement which I get from JT Batchelors. The key to getting a stronghold is allowing the glue to get tacky before the contact and applying weight whilst it dries.

Although if you are gluing acrylic to leather you might want to get a silicone contact cement for a clean finish, as it dries clear, rather than slightly yellow. Unfortunately, I don’t know the name of this to purchase online, purchase at JT Batchelors.

Hope something there was helpful?
