Hey folks. I found the metal lathe generously sprinkled with copper shavings and swarf today. There also seems to be two bits broken, and at least one bit holder damaged. What happened?
@metaltechs - grateful if you’d have a look at the bit holders and bits (I did replace one), you’ll see the damage immediately.
I’ll take a look tomorrow, if you mean the broken carbide insert parting tools they are broken for a while, I’ll fix the one with the chipped corner and put the other in the scrap bin( until that please put them into the blue plastix box under the bench behind the lathe next to the welding bay. Just use the HSS parting tool, that is the size for this lathe! is there any damage other than this? ( and please post a photo)
The henry next to the lathe can be used to remove chips after all the coolant is in the tank. (have to empty it into the blue barrell)
i don’t know if it’s what you are referring to… i used the lathe to turn a piece of brass the other day but i cleaned it as much as i could when finished. i don’t know about copper.
if it’s the case I’ll do a better job next time
I recived this photo today 'bout the lathe ( I have know ide why on earth someone tried to use a broken tool and replaced the good one with it in the holder, when there is a nice big shiny parting tool there )
