I managed to break my mallet back in November, which was a shop-bought one I’d had for about a decade. After a frustrating afternoon in the workshop I thought I’d have a go at making a carving mallet.
Sapele handle, maple head - requires a coat of finish and I’m still contemplating drilling out the head and filling with something like lead shot to up the weight.
