Cutting beech on the table saw

@woodtechs When cutting beech on the table saw last night it got quite smokey, this was after the rip blade was cleaned, it produced quite a bit of dark smoke.

Not sure if we need a new blade or something is being done wrong, but what can I do to ensure that this doesn’t happen with any further beech that I cut?

Seems like we need to sharpen it… would be good to send out other blades with it as next… @Ryanf? Was there a place we were using?

How deep passes were you doing?

The board I was ripping was less than 50mm

Sounds like a dull blade. Especially if you cleaned the blade before your cut. Will have to send the blades for sharpening, perhaps even buying a dedicated rip blade with fewer teeth would also work well.

Is it possible for the blades to be sharpened soon, I have a bit more beech i’de like to rip up

If th wood techs don’t have time to get them sharpened feel free to to take them to get sharpened your self.

Ryan is a fantastic woodteck but he only has 24H a day

Sorry that wasn’t meant as a slight at Ryan or the woodtechs.

I am more than happy to do this, just tell me where I should take them and I will get it done, as always, I’m happy to help

Thanks Paul, didn’t take it as a jab. I’m going to order another 24t rip blade so we have a spare when one goes off to get sharpened. It takes about 3 days for it to be delivered, or so they say. I reckon Thursday it’ll be there.
