I’ll check it out tomorrow, usually it-s the glass fuse next to the lapmps. If it dkesn’t start after switching it off.
@electrotechs do we have a couple 3A glass fuses?
I don’t think so, we should totally keep some spares
I think there are some in one of the electronics boxes. I recall finding a few a couple of months back
Definitely! They tend to break when you put a bit bigger load on these machines, My lathe is the same make and it does it in every couple month.
There is an amp in the old woodshop what needs to go out ( or for harwesting parts), they usually have 2-3 of these fuses.
Just put a screw
Jocking, don’t.
Chewing gum paper a’la MacGyver
That electric component sorage has higher level of entropy than the sussoundings of a black hole… I ordered a pack for my lathe and will bring a pair down ( one in the machine the spare duckt taped on the control box)
I know, it’s very difficult to store very random donations.
It was not the fuse, more likely some failure on the controlboard/potmeter. I will open it up and check if it worth repairing ( a new control board is 120quid ) worst case we can MacGyver the table on the pillar drill, that has a morse taper, so we can use the ER collets and its table can be lifted ( it won’t be a fine feed, but does the trick until we can get a proper big milling machine) so that can double as Z axis, and the ajax has much more power than the sx1
Thanks for looking into it. My knowledge of electronic is limited but maybe with guidance from @electrotechs there is a way to fix it…
buying a bridgeport would fix it permanently
Luckly it’s on sale
They’re looking for one with a small pricetag for us with accessories in SMEE
And I found one too from bequest with horizontal and verticl head and a pile of stuff, the lady is still looking for parts , it might worth to arrange a visit to browse the huge amount of machines and tooling she has.
Nice lets check it out!
I arrange a shed dive than!
We’re good to go! Time needs to be discussed, she’s in Hull, east yorkshire.
