Google made embedded maps a paid-for feature ages ago, I think there are more websites with a broken map than a functioning one.
A screenshot of google maps and a link could work as a cheapo replacement.
Agreed with OSM being the right move. Open-source maps seems to philosophically align with a Makerspace, after all
Funnily enough, last week I updated OSM to reflect the local area and shops, including SLMS location and details. I also vouch for OSM. You can change the colour scheme of the map, remove unnecessary information, and highlight roads to be more clear for the website.
