I’m planning on buying an ash dowel from this site. They have lots of wood turning supplies if anyone else wants to get in on the order to save on shipping. They also sell planed and rough sawn wood and carving blanks.

Yeah, I’d be up for some of this, I’m practicing on scraps and offcuts for now but definitely will take a look and add some items…
Do you have any timeframes on this and do you know how much we need to get in order to get free delivery etc?
£50 for free delivery I believe. I won’t need it for a couple weeks so flexible on timing.

I think I need to practice a bit more on scraps before I buy wood for finished items, I’ll give it a miss for this order, sorry.
I saw that other people had said they were keen so I didn’t think you were waiting on me but I didn’t see any actual confirmations of orders so didn’t update the post…
Maybe a future order but I think it’s quite expensive to be practicing on so offcuts or rough sawn that I’ll rough down myself for me for now

The preferred supplier by my wood turning group seems to be Stiles and Bates, in Kent. They seem to always get favourable reviews for quality, selection, price and order accuracy. They offer a free print catalog (remember those?| on request.
I would be interested in combining an order, as their shipping charges while not unreasable, add to the price of an order.

I would endorse this company - my father and I have used them quite extensively for their wood blanks in recent years, him for the lathe and me for router projects.
Always a good service and also worth a visit down there too. I probably look there first if I am looking for something specific for a project.
@Riggerz check the top link that Max said he is ordering from if you want to add some blanks for turning now with others, or this one that Martin suggests
