Does anyone whether the heat press element is either full plate or has a zig zag of elements within it? Looking to use for acrylic sublimation projects soon.
Tx
Tracy, would you let me know timeline for getting that up and running. We need to find Joe’s tile cutter (probably under lots of wood in the Arch2 toilet block) and get handles in it.
Absolutely. @Dorine and I are in the space at the moment just talking through everything so we we’ll have a plan of how it’s going to work.
Found the tile - it’s perfect as is (but with handles) for larger projects and doesn’t need cutting but we are now thinking of having multiple pieces to use depending on the project size.
So much easier if don’t have to rummage around finding the tile cutter!
Yes, different sizes seems a good idea. Also might cater for members who might struggle with heavy lifting- even 1.5kg can be hard for some.
Plan is to fix that tile to some mdf. Handles attach to that. Are removable handles needed or helpful?
Matt brought in some marble worktop offcuts. Can see if that material might be suitable as a bed too. That is probably 38mm thick, so quite heavy.
Let me know when you have an idea of sizes that are wanted.
And when needed by (or at least when first one is needed).
The big tile is perfect as is, it’s thick enough to survive having a 200 degree acrylic sheet put on it, I think.
The black marble is supper heavy, I struggled to pick it up but my right arm is a bit injured atm. A handle on it with a hole so I can property grab it might be enough.
Had a convo with Brian last night he might have some spare 6mm aluminium we could do a trade deal for. if that was glued to a piece of wood that could do the job if there was an air gap between wood; Alu is great at transferring heat
Sizes I was looking at are:
A4
A5 - standard half of A4
And half of A4 but length wise
I don’t know the tech side, but I’ve used it for sublimation projects and the transfer of the print was good if that helps
Are you planning to be at the space this or next week? I could do with being shown how that heat press works
I had thought the granite as the base plate and the tile goes on top, with handles on the tile. Granite is heavy. The tile is lighter and weights can be added. Wouldn’t that be better, or am I missing something?
But the big tile is a perfect fit for the table and it should work just fine I’ll be in tomorrow late afternoon
I could fix a board to the back of the granite - like the picture. Could cut rounded hole on either side 11cm x 2,2cm for grabbing onto. Would that do what you want?
I might possibly be able to get a second 600x600mm tile.
I still think granite slab may be better underneath as bed and have marble tile /slab with handles to put on this.
I also brought a smaller tile - see photo below. That may not stand up to the heat though. The tiles should not be used until they are fixed to an mdf backing.
Love the solution!
Hi there
Unfortunately not. Probably not until November - but if I do will give you a heads up! Do we have a sublimation printer at the space?
Kind regards
Rebecca
Ahhh np ill dig on youtube
Next week ish ill bring the Sub printer in to live in Textile.
Hi only just saw this - thx for confirming
