Hello! I’m Felix, I live in Loughborough Junction & am very excited to join the SLMS community. I used the Institute of Making whilst at university and had the best time so I’m looking forward to making but also getting involved in helping out. I’m between jobs at the minute so I have plenty of time that I can give.

I have interests in woodwork & metalwork - particularly from a furniture / cabinetry perspective, ceramics (so would be keen to help out with any pottery projects in the future), printing techniques - and then other bits like mycology & perfume making. I had an idea recently for a workshop which would be to build a steam distillation set up and then people could bring their own botanicals they have collected and create their own essential oils!

In terms of membership - I have sent my responses to the survey, should I wait for a response or am I ok to go ahead and buy my membership on the online shop?

If you have received the survey, it shouldn’t take too long until you receive the invite to go ahead with the membership. If you haven’t heard after the weekend, just get in touch with @welcome - and things should be sorted quickly.

Mycology is also one of my interests. I was thinking of doing a workshop for growing your own gourmet mushrooms at home, starting with some Oyster or Lion’s Mane where everybody would get to make their own inoculated substrate and take it home.

I also like the idea of the destillation set up! Good stuff!
