Hi everyone,
I came along to the open evening last night, and what a fabulous space it is, thank you @Brendon_Hatcher and everyone else for showing me round. I’ve put my name on the waitlist but thought I would say hi here as well!
What I’d love to learn: MIG welding and metal machining. I’ve done lots of design for manufacture in various jobs but I’d love to be more hands-on with metalworking.
A project to get me started: A little stool from reclaimed wooden material. I’ve done a fair bit of carpentry over the years but haven’t had regular access to standing machinery so I think this would be a great way to learn my way around the woodshop. I’m also keen to avoid virgin material where possible and be more circular in my own practice.
A little about my making background:
- CAD technician for a theatre scenery company
- Lots of set construction experience
- Some electronics & coding in my degree
- Lots of lasers and lab construction in post-grad
- Absolute beginner in pottery!
I’m really excited to get to know people and join in!
