Hi. My name is Tracy. I came to the open evening last night and it was great to meet everyone.
I’m a keen sewer, both dressmaking and household things. I’d be happy to help out with anyone keen to learn using the machines at space. I also have LOTS(!) of sewing patterns , fabric, tools etc that I would be happy to share.
However, my main interest in joining Makerspace is for the equipment I don’t have - mainly the laser cutter! I did a course at Morley college back in 202 (just after 1st lockdown) on making acrylic jewellery using a laser cutter. But the course was online, so I got to use the software etc - but never used a machine! Would be lovely to rectify that
I’m sure plenty of folks would appreciate the guidance.
I can’t believe you couldn’t see the best part, your design come to life! I’m curious what software tools you were using? Would be cool for those designs made real.
We were using Inkscape software to create the designs. I did get to see the final results in a way - we sent the designs to the college, and were posted the finished sample items - but I didn’t get to see the actual production. I’m certainly not blaming Morley - it was right in the middle of lockdown and they did their absolute best to run at all. It was a fun course and it whetted my appetite!
