The right file for sharpening card scrapers

Using the correct file to sharpen card scrapers is quicker because it requires less work to remove the scratches from the file.
Single cut files leave a smoother surface than a comparable double cut file.

Single cut files are also known as farmers files and are suitable for sharpening agricultural and garden tools.
I had thought that bastard cut mill files were coarse but, the example shown has 45 tpi and leaves a very smooth cut.
The right tool for the job.

I only discovered the joys of card scrapers recently, they really are just an awesome tool.

Lots of jobs that I would have done with sandpaper or a file with slightly unsatisfactory results are just a breeze with my scraper.

The scraper joy only lasted until my card scraper went dull :frowning:

Ive been researching how to sharpen scrapers, so this tip is much appreciated :tada:

Do we have a card scraper in the space?
Just googled to find out more and i’d like to give one a go

We used to, think they got lost in the move unless someone knows where they went

Hey Dougal,

They are a very affordable tool:

Like I say they are only fun when they are sharp, still working out how to do that
