I’m thinking to do drive pledge for an ultrasonic cleaner.
I think would be useful for @metaltechs, @3dtechs and @electrotechs alike but I was wondering how big would it need to be, I was pivoting around a 10 Liters.
If you never used a Ultrasonic Cleaner, it’s a magical machine that use vibrations to create microscopic bubbles on the surface of the submerged object when the bubble pops the force breaks the dirt or dust on the surface, it’s an efficient way to clean complicated objects, really useful.
Inexpensive ultrasonic cleaners often have power issues, as in they’re not actually powerful enough to do meaningful work. I’d fully support a cleaner purchase; my own is currently stored away under too many bike things to access easily.
Top tip: don’t put the item you want to clean directly in the cleaner, it’s a waste of fluid and makes maintenance harder. Put the item you want cleaned in a sturdy zip lock or uc specific bag, and fill the bag with cleaning liquid, using only water in the UC tank. That way you can clean multiple things at once and reduce consumption of cleaner fluid.
Dish washing liquid works well but industrial chemicals are obvs. more efficient. Don’t use anything that might combust!
More than the volume, the tank shape is the main thing to consider after power. For ordinary bike components, IME the tank needs to be at least 200x150x120mm. 10L as Andrea suggested would likely be sufficient for bikes, 30L as Joe suggested would be amazing but where would it fit?
