At work we have a Matterport Pro 2 camera for creating virtual tours and uploading to Google Maps.
I was wondering if it might be an idea to do a new scan as the current ones are from 9 years ago and don’t really represent all the hard work people have put in.
Would people be interested in doing a new scan of the space?
I’m certainly interested in this and ‘Reality Capture’. I’ve used the Matterport app, but not the dedicated camera. A scan might be very helpful at this point for planning and organising moving. As a virtual tour, that might be best left until the moving is complete and new areas are in place - ceramics, metalworking, screenprinting, paint room. Might we be able to do both?
Would we be able to use that Matterport camera with our own Matterport account? (Free for 1 active space - we only need 1 active space at any time - it would be updating and overwriting after the move is completed rather than an additional space).
If that doesn’t work, could we make use of 1 active space briefly? . I believe that once published and it’s no longer being edited or worked on, the active space then gets freed up. 1 week should be ample time. Hopefully though we might be able to use our own free account with that.
Let me know when you’ll be in and I’ll try to be there. At the moment, Wednesday is the only day I can’t do.
I believe it can export to obj or a point cloud. Once have that, no longer need to use Matterport.
I did some scans of Arch2 ceiling using RealityScan photogrammetry (to help with planning extraction). It didn’t come out very well, it looks like shrapnel has torn through the space. The scan I did of the dog’s head came out nicely (dog lying on the floor). It is mainly to do with the 200 image limit for free use.
